From the Home Tab on the Outlook Ribbon click on Address Book. Now the Address Book is Open click on Tools. Click on Options. Click on the drop down under 'When opening the address book, show this address list first: Choose the Contacts option and click on OK. If you like you can also click on the radio button which says 'Start with contact. Account settings, Address Book settings. Directory and Address book settings are found in Account Settings (Tools menu in older versions or File tab in Outlook 2010). Does anyone know if you can force Outlook 2016 on Mac to update the Address Book. My own research seems to say no. In short, we've added a Resource Room in Office 365, but it will not show on the Macs. On the PCs we can force the updated GAL to download, but no option on Mac. I'm sure it will show tomorrow, but we would like to test today. Point new Exchange 2016 On-Premises DBs to the new default Offline Address Book that was created. And make sure current Ex 2010 DBs are pointing to Ex 2010 OAB until the migration is completed. After installing the 1st Ex 2016 new Ex 2016 DBs should point to new default OAB.

The Global Address Book can be accessed through the Outlook Desktop Client. It must be set up at your computer.

Accessing the Global Address Book

• Open the Address Book in the top right-hand corner.
• Use the shortcut key combination Crtl-Shift-b

There are two basic Global Address Lists:

• Offline Global Address List: this is the default and primary address list
• Global Address List: this contains the latest updates, but it must be manually selected.

2. Check the Download changes since last Send/Receive box is checked off, in Offline Address Book dialog box.
3. Click OK.

Updating the Global Address Book in Mac OS

Outlook 2011 does not use Exchange cached mode and connects to the Global Address Book by LDAP connection. It will update every time Send/Receive is clicked.
